Let’s read together: The Story of Fidgety Philip<\/strong> by Heinrich Hoffmann<\/h2>\n

“Let me see if Philip can
\nBe a little gentleman;
\nLet me see if he is able
\nTo sit still for once at table.”
\nThus spoke, in earnest tone,
\nThe father to his son;
\nAnd the mother looked very grave
\nTo see Philip so misbehave.
\nBut Philip he did not mind
\nHis father who was so kind.
\nHe wriggled
\nAnd giggled,
\nAnd then, I declare,
\nSwung backward and forward
\nAnd tilted his chair,
\nJust like any rocking horse;-
\n“Philip! I am getting cross!”<\/p>\n

See the naughty, restless child,
\nGrowing still more rude and wild ,
\nTill his chair falls over quite.
\nPhilip screams with all his might,
\nCatches at the cloth, but then
\nThat makes matters worse again.
\nDown upon the ground they fall,
\nGlasses, bread, knives forks and all.
\nHow Mamma did fret and frown,
\nWhen she saw them tumbling down!
\nAnd Papa made such a face!
\nPhilip is in sad disgrace.<\/p>\n

Where is Philip? Where is he?
\nFairly cover’d up, you see!
\nCloth and ll are lying on him;
\nHe has pull’d down all upon him!
\nWhat a terrible to-do!
\nDishes, glasses, snapt in two!
\nHere a knife, and ther fork!
\nPhilip, this is naughty work.
\nTable all so bare, and ah!
\nPoor Papa and poor Mamma
\nLook quite cross, and wonder how
\nThey shall make their dinner now.<\/p>\n
